Our History

Founded in 2011 as a community based mentoring program by Alphonso Brown, Vera Pires-Brown and Shirley Ortiz. The ICAN Pathway To Medicine Program  (formerly known as The ICAN Medical Scholars Program) has trained over 100 students from throughout New England. Several students have begun or completed training as Doctors, Nurses, EMT's Physicians Assistants, Health Care Researchers and Public Health Professionals.
